At Dentistry of Winfield, we’re excited to offer our patients a faster alternative with CEREC® same-day crowns.
How Does CEREC Work?
Our CEREC system uses CAD/CAM technology, which stands for computer-aided manufacturing and computer-aided design. That means that it allows us to digitally design a custom dental crown for your unique needs, and we can than manufacture it on site rather then waiting on an outside dental lab.
First, we take digital images of the tooth that will be receiving the crown. Then we send these to our CEREC system so we can design your restoration. Once we are satisfied with the design, we send the information over to the milling unit, which will create your dental crown out of a block of tooth-colored, durable material. To complete the process, we’ll place your dental crown and make any fit adjustments if necessary. The whole procedure from start to finish generally only takes about an hour or two.
